Peugeot n'a jamais hésité à allouer des budgets conséquents pour soutenir le sport et promouvoir ses voitures dans toute l'Europe. In 1989, the Bernese ice hockey club was looking for new sponsors. Since the 1985-1986 season, the Club of Lugano had been consistently winning the Swiss ice hockey championship, known as the "National League," leaving no respite for its opponents, who could never score a single point in the finals. But the following year, during the 1988-1989 season, there was a twist! SC Bern finally triumphed 3-2 in the final against this tough club! Thanks to this victory, Peugeot agreed to sponsor them, signing a two-year contract in July 1989 with SC Bern. An annual amount of 250,000 Swiss francs was allocated to the club to finance their equipment!
